The Fruit Corner

The Fruit Corner at Pickering Brook is a working self-pick orchard with a farm shed attached, so there is something to take home even when the picking rows are between crops. Cherries and plums come through in early summer, apples run from late summer into winter, and the shed trades on preserves, raw honey and farm eggs year round.

Good to Know

Entry is $5 for adults and $2 for children, with picked fruit charged per kilo on top, and you are asked to bring your own bags. Picking runs roughly 10am to 2pm with the shed open until 3pm, though some listings quote 8am to 3pm depending on the season. Opening days change week to week with what is ripe, so check their Facebook page before driving up.

Pro tip: February is the sweet spot, when the last stone fruit and the first apples overlap.
