Padbury Pickings opens its Herne Hill vineyard for two months each summer so visitors can cut their own seedless table grapes, red, green and black, straight from the vines. Boxes, scissors and bags are supplied, tasting as you go is encouraged, and entry is free.
Watermelons and rockmelons have also been offered on some weekends.
Entry is free and you pay by weight for what you cut, cash only in recent seasons. Open weekends 9am to 3pm through January and February, no bookings needed. The season is genuinely short, so watch their socials from early January.
Pro tip: bring cash and go early in January when all three grape colours are on the vines.
