Core Cider House at Pickering Brook is a 40 acre orchard with a cider garden, bistro and playground attached, and it opens the trees for guided picking tours in declared windows through the year. The picking is genuinely hands-on, you are given bags and pick your own, but it is a ticketed walking tour rather than a turn-up-and-wander arrangement.
Entry to the grounds, cider garden and bistro is free; the picking tours are separately ticketed through Eventbrite and only run when a window is announced, so check the fruit picking page before planning around it. Venue hours are Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday 11am to 4pm, and Friday 11am to 9pm.
Pro tip: even outside a picking window this is a solid family stop, with the playground and bistro open regardless.
