Yellingbo Berries is a certified organic blueberry farm (OGA certification 785) on Carson Road at Seville, in the quiet green corner of the Yarra Valley near the Yellingbo conservation reserve. The season is short and sweet: January and February only, which concentrates the whole year's harvest into a few golden weeks.
Open Saturday to Wednesday during the season, largely by appointment, though drop-in windows are sometimes posted on Facebook for long weekends. Phone or email ahead to lock in a picking time and check how the crop is ripening. Certified organic blueberries straight off the bush are the draw; quantities are limited, so early February is safer than late. Certification is through Organic Growers of Australia, and the farm's practices extend to the jams made from surplus fruit. The surrounding Yellingbo bushland is a conservation area for the helmeted honeyeater, which gives the drive in a distinctly local character.
Pro tip: pre-order a tray of picked fruit when booking, then top it up with your own picking on the day.
