Summerberries Blueberry Farm is a family-owned organic blueberry farm at Glenburn, about 80km north-east of Melbourne between Yarra Glen and Yea. Set across 10 hectares with a shady picnic ground, it offers abundant, easy-to-reach fruit through the height of summer.
There is no entry fee; you pay $20/kg for what you pick. The farm closes Thursdays and Fridays, and picking sessions can be booked through the website. The season depends on the crop, so check the farm's website or socials before setting out. Bring hats and water; the bushes are in open sun even though the picnic area is shaded. The farm asks visitors to allow at least two hours, which suits the setting: picking is unhurried, the picnic ground invites a long lunch, and the drive home through Glenburn and Yarra Glen rounds out the day. Fruit is weighed and paid at the shed on the way out.
Pro tip: January is peak ripeness, when you can fill a bucket in under an hour.
