Silvan Cherry and Berry Farm has run u-pick on Edmund Road at Silvan since 1988, growing around 20 cherry varieties that ripen in waves across the season plus raspberries and blueberries. It is an independent, old-school operation: tickets at the gate, cash only, and the season simply ends when the cherries run out.
Reported entry is about $15 for adults including 1kg of cherries and $7.50 for children (5-14, under 5 free). Open most weekends November to January; watch their Facebook for the closed-for-season notice. Cash only, no EFTPOS, and no bookings; just turn up at the gate. Lemon trees on the property supply the farm shop, and the on-site honey comes from hives that work the orchard blossom each spring. Arriving early in the day gives the best pick of whichever varieties came ripe that week.
Pro tip: with 20 varieties ripening in sequence, mid-season visits offer the widest tasting spread.
