The Bramble Farm in Langwarrin has been family-owned since 1985, growing from just 60 blackberry vines to around 10,000 brambleberry vines and 28,000 raspberry canes on the edge of the Mornington Peninsula. The berries are grown using integrated pest management (bugs to eat the bugs) rather than chemical sprays, and everything in the farm shop, from jams and sauces to juices and honey, is made on site.
Picked berries are around $25/kg with a minimum pick-your-own purchase of about $10.
Entry is about $10 for adults and $5 for children aged 6-15, with under 5s free. The farm shop opens year-round, 9am-5pm daily, selling frozen berries and preserves even in winter; the picking field runs roughly 10am-4pm daily during the November to April harvest. Call ahead to check what is ripe before visiting. The integrated pest management approach means beneficial insects do the work of sprays, a story the family is happy to explain while weighing your berries.
Pro tip: brambleberries are hard to find in shops; take a kilo home for the freezer.
