Surf Coast Strawberry Fields spreads across roughly 90 acres on the corner of McCanns Road and the Surf Coast Highway at Mount Duneed, between Geelong and Torquay. It is an easy add-on to a Surf Coast beach day: wander the strawberry rows, fill your punnet with sun-ripened fruit, then cool off with an ice cream from the farm store.
Entry includes your punnet: $10 for adults with a 500g punnet (or $14 for a 1kg punnet) and $7 for children aged 3-12 with a 400g punnet; under 3s are free. A family pack (two adult and two child punnets) is $30.
Opening days and hours vary with the weather and how much ripe fruit is available, so check the website or Facebook before driving out. No bookings are needed, and note the farm takes card payments only. The farm store's ice creams and cold drinks earn their keep on hot afternoons, and the flat rows make for easy walking with prams.
Pro tip: visit a day or two after warm weather; that is when the ripe fruit is most plentiful.
