Sanders Apples is a third-generation, family-owned apple orchard at Three Bridges in the upper Yarra Valley, about 90 minutes east of Melbourne. During autumn the family throws open the orchard gates so visitors can wander the rows and pick crisp apples straight from the tree, choosing from varieties like royal gala, pink lady, granny smith and kanzi as they ripen through the season.
Pricing bundles entry with fruit: $12.50 per person includes up to 2kg of apples, couples pay $15 for 2kg, and groups of up to four pay $25 for 4kg. Bring a reusable bag for your haul.
The orchard opens on selected dates during the season, typically Fridays and weekends, with dates published on the website; private bookings are available year-round for groups. Book your picking session online before making the drive, as open days depend on the crop.
Pro tip: different varieties peak at different times, so ask the family what is eating best when you arrive.
