About This Farm
CherryHill Orchards has been growing cherries in the Yarra Valley since 1940, and its Wandin East farm spreads across more than 85 acres of cherry trees about an hour from Melbourne. Each summer the pick-your-own season draws families from across Victoria for a summer harvest tradition stretching back decades.
What You Can Pick
From November to early January, the orchard opens for timed two-hour picking sessions:
- Cherries - eat as many as you like straight from the tree while you pick, then pay by the kilo for any you take home
Activities
- Farm gate store famous for its cherry ice cream
- On-site cafe and sprawling picnic lawns
- Spring Blossom Festival - a separate dog-friendly event season when the orchard turns white with blossom
Good to Know
2025/26 season entry started from $22.50 for adults and $13 for children, with weekend sessions priced higher; infants three and under enter free but still need a ticket, and family tickets are available. Sessions are limited and often sell out, so book ahead online. Wheelchair-accessible paths make the orchard manageable for prams too. Outside the picking and festival seasons the farm is closed, so check the website for dates before planning a visit.
Pro tip: weekday sessions are cheaper and noticeably quieter than weekends.
