Ashbern Farms grows strawberries at Stanthorpe on the Granite Belt, where the altitude flips the calendar: while coastal Queensland picks through winter, these highland berries ripen across summer and autumn. Entry is free, you take a punnet from the farm shop and pay by weight for whatever you carry out.
Open Friday, Saturday and Sunday 8am to 3pm through the season, with no bookings needed: pick as much as you like and pay at the shop. The patches and food areas are wheelchair accessible but dogs are not permitted. School groups can book ahead at the Stanthorpe farm. Stanthorpe is around three hours from Brisbane, so this is a weekend trip rather than a day run.
Pro tip: Granite Belt strawberries peak in the warmer months, the exact opposite of the coast, so this fills the gap when Caboolture finishes.
Not available here: Pet Friendly.
